Normas de publicación de la Revista Ciencias de la Conducta

Ciencias de la Conducta es una revista de corte interdisciplinario en la cual los/as psicólogos/as u otros profesionales exponen sus investigaciones, teorías o ideas con el propósito de lograr avances significativos en el quehacer psicológico en Puerto Rico y la comunidad latinoamericana internacional. La revista pública material que cubre áreas diversas de la psicología, las cuales incluyen la psicología clínica, social, académica, industrial y la comunitaria.  Los artículos publicados también cubren una gama amplia de temas y acercamientos metodológicos, entre ellos, revisiones de literatura, elaboraciones teóricas, estudio de caso, estudios experimentales, estudios etnográficos, entre otros. El material publicado representa la opinión de los autores y no necesariamente constituye un endoso por parte de la Universidad Carlos Albizu.

Instrucciones para Someter Artículos

Los manuscritos deben ser dirigidos al Editor, Alfonso Martínez-Taboas, Ph.D., Universidad Carlos Albizu, Programa de Adiestramiento en Investigación, Apartado 9023711, Old Station San Juan, Puerto Rico 00902-3711.

Una vez el/la autor/a entrega el artículo, el Editor de la revista procederá a someter el mismo a una revisión anónima de pares. Los revisores son escogidos a base de su peritaje en el tema del trabajo sometido, y éstos representan a varias instituciones universitarias del país. Cuando los revisores entregan el artículo, el Editor tomará la decisión final sobre si el mismo es aceptable o no aceptable para ser publicado en Ciencias de la Conducta. Usualmente el proceso de revisión toma entre unos tres a cuatro meses.

• 1) Todo manuscrito debe ser sometido a doble espacio siguiendo las guías de publicación establecidas en el Manual de Publicación de la American Psychological Association (Quinta Edición). El resumen (abstract) y el título tiene que ser presentado en español e inglés y el resumen no debe contener más de 150 palabras.
• 2) Al someter el trabajo, el autor debe enviar cuatro copias del manuscrito. También, debe enviar el manuscrito en Microsoft Office Word a la siguiente dirección electrónica: [e-mail]
• 3) Al enviar un manuscrito, el autor se compromete a que el material enviado no ha sido publicado anteriormente y que tampoco está siendo considerado para publicación en otra revista o libro profesional.
• 4) Por lo general, ningún manuscrito debe contener más de 35 páginas a doble espacio. En caso de que el manuscrito sobrepase esta cantidad, la Junta Editora evaluará la petición del autor de manera individual.
• 5) Para que una persona pueda aparecer como autor de un articulo, tiene que haber realizado una contribución substancial al trabajo final, incluyendo cumplir con estos tres requisitos:
• a) Concepción y diseño del estudio o análisis e interpretación de los datos.
• b) Escribir partes del articulo o haberlo revisado de manera critica añadiéndole un contenido intelectual importante que pueda ser evidenciado
• c) Ser parte de la aprobación final de la versión sometida

6)     Las referencias deben seguir el estilo del Manual de  Publicaciones de la American Psychological Association (Sexta Edición). Para citar libros, revistas o capítulos de libros, se deben seguir las siguientes directrices:

La autoría de un trabajo no se puede basar exclusivamente en haber buscado fondos para una investigación, reclutar sujetos o el recolectar datos.  Una supervisión general no es suficiente para ser considerado autor.  Se requiere que cada autor haya participado de manera suficiente en el trabajo para tomar responsabilidad pública por su contenido.

Behavioral Sciences Journal

Behavioral Sciences is an interdisciplinary journal in which psychologists and other professionals discuss their investigations, theories or ideas in order to obtain significant advances in the knowledge of psychology in Puerto Rico and in the rest of the professional community of Latin American and the United States. The journal publishes material that covers diverse areas of psychology, including clinical, social, academic, industrial and community psychology.  The articles also published in this journal cover an ample range of subjects and methodological approaches, among them, literature reviews, theoretical elaborations, experimental study of cases, experimental studies, ethnographical studies, among others.  In addition, each volume includes a section of art and culture where works of cultural nature are published either historical or artistic in nature. The published material represents the opinion of the authors and not necessarily, it constitutes an endorsement on the part of the University Carlos Albizu.

Instructions for Authors

The manuscripts must be directed to the Editor, Alfonso Martinez-Taboas, Ph.D., Carlos Albizu University, Programa de Adiestramiento en Investigación, Box 9023711, Old Station San Juan, Puerto Rico 00902-3711.

                When the author delivers the article, the magazine editor will distribute the piece of writing for an anonymous review between pairs. The reviewers are chosen based in their proficiency of the article's subject, and they represent several academic institutions of the country. Once the reviewers delivered the article, the editor will make the final decision on whether it is acceptable or not to publish the essay in the Behavioral Science Magazine. The review process usually takes three to four months.

1)  All manuscript must be double-spaced following the established publication guides in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition).  The summary (abstract) and the title must be presented in Spanish and English and the summary cannot contain more than 150 words,

2)  When submitting the manuscript, the author must send four copies of the manuscript. Also, the manuscript must be send in Microsoft Office Word format to the following electronic address: amartí[e-mail]

3) When submitting a manuscript, the author has to make a compromise that the manuscript has not been published previously and that neither it is being considered for publication in another journal or professional book.

4) Generally, no manuscript must contain more of double-spaced 35 pages.  In case that the manuscript exceeds this amount, the Editor will evaluate the request of the author in each individual case.

5) To appear as an author, one must have made a substantial contribution to the work, including fulfilling these three requirements:

a) conception and design of the study or analysis and interpretation of the data.

b) Write a section of the article or make an important intellectual contribution to the manuscript

c) To be part of the final approval of the manuscript

6) References should follow the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Sixth Edition). To cite books, magazines or books, chapters follow the following guiding principles:

The responsibility of a work cannot be based exclusively on having obtained funds for an investigation, to recruit subjects or collecting data.  A general supervision is not sufficient to be considered an author.  It is required that each author has participated actively in the work in order to take responsibility for the publication of its content.
