Monitoring levels of stress and overtraining in an elite brazilian female volleyball athlete: case study
Descripción:
Overtraining is the result of an imbalance between stress and recovery, in addition to short recovery time and psychosocial events. In this case study, a questionnaire of stress and recovery in sports was used to assess the level of overtraining of an elite female Brazilian volleyball player. The results showed that the heavy loads caused changes in the athlete's profile, resulting in an increase in the fatigue scales. The recovery periods were fundamental to restore her physical and psychological capacities. Finally, the method used detected changes in the athlete's profile after acute events, such as an unexpected defeat. We concluded that changes in the profile of the curve, showed by the instrument, reflected the different moments of the collection, thus reflecting the change in the stress overload. Therefore, the detection or monitoring of stressing factors might be valuable to improve the physical and psychological performance of a team.

The use of sports psychology consultants in elite sports teams
Descripción:
This study investigates the use of psychology services in teams of the top division Spanish leagues of handball, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, soccer and field hockey. Personal interviews were conducted to determine the composition of the multidisciplinary teams. The response rate was 81.8% (77 of 94). Though most teams have different professionals employed on a full-time basis, only 15.6% of these teams have a sport psychologist. Moreover, only three teams have a full-time sports psychologist. These results indicate that, compared to other professional services, managers and/or coaches do not perceive the need for psychological services. We discarded the hypothesis that most of the teams do not hire psychologists due to financial reasons. Sport psychology associations should reinforce the importance of the psychologist to enhance sports performance

Flow disposicional en salvamento deportivo: una aproximación desde la teoría de la autodeterminación
Descripción:
This study analyzed the relationships between perceived motivational climates, psychological mediators, self-determined motivation and dispositional flow in lifesaving sport. The study variables also examined differences according to gender, age and daily practice time. A total of 283 athletes with a mean age of 17.27 years (SD = 3.36) who completed the Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire-2 (PMCSQ-2), the Motivational Mediators in Sport Scale (EMMD), the Sport Motivational Scale (SMS) and the Dispositional Flow Scale (DFS) participated in the study. The results revealed that perceived task and ego-involving motivational climates, perceived competence and autonomy, and selfdetermined motivation positively predicted dispositional flow with 50% of the variance explained. Men reported higher scores in autonomy, competence and dispositional flow than women did. Older athletes displayed a higher level of perceived autonomy than younger ones. The results are discussed in connection with the motivational factors important to improving dispositional flow.

Validez concurrente de la versión española del cuestionario de recuperación-estrés para deportistas (RESTQ-Sport)
Descripción:
This study investigated the concurrent validity of the Spanish version of the Recovery-Stress Questionnaire for Athletes (RESTQ-Sport) by comparing it with the Profile of Mood States (POMS) and State-Anxiety scale of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). A total of 194 athletes (53% males and 47% females) participated in the study. The POMS scales Tension, Depression, Anger, Fatigue and Confusion correlated positively with the stress scales and factors and negatively with the RESTQ-Sport's recovery scales and factors, while the POMS Vigour scale correlated positively with the RESTQ-Sport's recovery scales and factors and negatively with the stress scales and factors. State anxiety correlated positively with stress and negatively with the recovery scales and factors. The data obtained confirm the Spanish version of the RESTQ-Sport's concurrent validity.
