CONVOCATION                                  

"Manuel Fajardo" Higher Institute of Physical Culture and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of the Republic of Cuba convoke the III INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SPORTS that will be held in Havana City, on November 9-13, 2009. The slogan of the Convention will be "Professional development, physical activity and quality of life".

Its main objective is to foster the exchange, promotion and dissemination of the experiences and results of research in the areas of the sciences applied to physical activity and sports, as well as the training of their professionals, their management and direction, and the use of free time, promoting a sustainable development in the improvement of the quality of life.

 

 

The III Convention AFIDE on this occasion includes in a special way, and in addition to its Scientific Program, the First Congress of Graduates from the International School of Physical Education and Sports and the International Scientific Meeting of Students from the Higher Institute of Physical Culture and the Ibero-American Sports University.   

 

This convention will be organized by:

  • The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation.
  • The Cuban Olympic Committee.
  • "Manuel Fajardo" Higher Institute of Physical Education.
  • The International School of Physical Education and Sports.
  • The Latin American Institute of Chess.
  • The Institute of Sports Medicine.
  • Cubadeportes S.A.

 

After the two previous successful conventions, the Organizing Committee of the III International Convention of Physical Activity and Sports AFIDE 09 considers that this event has achieved a maturity that allows it to grow not only in its thematic scope, but also in its projection.

NORMS FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND SYNOPSES:

 

Those interested in submitting their works in this event, should send the abstracts and synopses in electronic format  to the Organizing Committee by September 10, 2009, according to the following norms:

  • 1. Abstracts should be submitted in Spanish, in Microsoft Word format (97, 2000 or XP), letter sheet (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm), font size Arial 12 at one and a half space. Abstracts should have no more than 250 words.
  • 2. Abstracts should contain title of the work, thematic, name of the author, e-mail, institutional affiliation and country.
  • 3. The synopsis of the work should not exceed 10 pages. Its design should include cover, abstract, objective of the work, used methodology and results.

 

NORMS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF POSTERS:

 

The authors of the posters should also send them in electronic format to the Organizing Commission by September 10 2009, according to the following norms:

  • 1. An abstract in Spanish, in Microsoft Word format (97, 2000 or XP), letter sheet (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm), font size Arial 12 at one and a half space. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words.
  • 2. Posters will be presented in a format of 0.70 m as a minimum (width) x 1.00 m as a maximum (height). Posters should be organized into the following sections: title, author, coauthors, institution, country, synthesis of the work with the results obtained accompanied with graphs, photos, etc., illustrating the work done.

 

OFFICIAL LANGUAGES:

Spanish, English and Portuguese will be the languages used for submitting the works. Simultaneous interpretation will be available at the plenary sessions.

CUC: Cuban convertible peso.

 

The participants will pay the registration fee on arriving to Cuba at the headquarters of the event.

 

To pay the scholarship corresponding to students, an official letter from a university certifying that he/she is an undergraduate student should be submitted.

The registration fee of delegates, students and graduates from the International School of Physical Education and Sports includes: accreditation module, participation in the convention activities, specialized visits, certificate of attendance and of authorship if a work is submitted. The companion's registration fee comprises official opening and closing activities and city sightseeing tours.
